In this musical performance, inspired by the film of Felix de Rooy and Norman de Palm (1986), singer Izaline Calister and pianist Thijs Borsten, together with percussionist Russel Soleana and dancer Junadry Leocaria, bring a Curaçaoan folk tale to life.

The story is based on an Antillean myth and revolves around the universal struggle between good and evil: Solem, the mute priestess of the village of Desolato, is seduced by evil. She is banished from the village when it becomes clear that she is pregnant. On her journey to Matriz de Piedat, the spirit realm of the ancestors, she repeatedly encounters evil, taking the form of both humans and animals. During this struggle, Solem’s newborn daughter Almacita dies and is taken into the spirit realm. Evil is ultimately defeated, and Solem is able to return to her village.
